What is a buyers agent? A buyers agent represents you, the person who is buying the home, hence the name "buyers agent." They work for you, the buyer and are there to help you through the entire home-buying process. This can include anything from finding homes that fit your needs, to negotiating prices, to helping with the paperwork. So what does a buyers agent do exactly? Keep reading to find out!

What are the responsibilities of a buyers agent? A buyers agent has many responsibilities, but their ultimate goal is to help you find and purchase the perfect home. To do this, they will often:

- Search for homes that fit your needs. This can involve anything from looking at online listings to driving around neighborhoods that might be a good fit.

- Present you with a number of homes that suit you until you see one you like. If you are interstate or overseas, the buyers agent can also send you videos or give you a virtual tour of the properties you’re interested in

- Have access to properties that are not yet on the market. This means that you can get fantastic buying opportunities, as you are not competing with buyers in the general public

- Negotiate prices: Once you see a home you like, their buyers agent will help you negotiate a fair price with the seller. That takes the stress and emotion out of the negotiating process for you, and you’ll generally end up with a better price than if you were negotiating yourself.

- Help with the paperwork: There is a lot of paperwork involved in buying a home, and a buyers agent can help make sure everything is in order.

Above all, a buyers agent should always have their buyer's best interests in mind. This means being honest about homes that they think might not be a good fit, being transparent about any fees they may be charging, and making sure the entire home-buying process goes as smoothly as possible.

If you're thinking about buying a home, working with a buyers agent is a great way to make sure you find the perfect home and get the best deal possible.
